for everyone

My daughter was at the movie rental place and noticed a girls basketball movie, Believe In Me.  You'll may have already seen it or at least heard about it.  The setting is Oklahoma and the coach comes to the small town thinking he will be coaching boys basketball.  In fact his contract said he would coach basketball and he just assumed it was "boys".  The year was 1964.  I did not recognize any of the actors, but just the word basketball was enough to suck me into wataching.,  I really thought it was pretty good.  On second thought, Bruce Dern plays trhe grumpy old "owner" of the town, Jeffrey Donovan the coach and Samantha Mathis is the coach's wife,  Let me know what you think of it.  I thought it was paticularly interesting since it was the year of your State Champianship.

I plan to rent that movie. It sounded similar to the Don Haskins show "Glory Road" about the black team that won the NCAA Chanpionship their first year to play at Texas Western College in El Paso. Haskins had come from a small high school where he coached girls' basketball. He was ribbed about that pretty much. That was a great movie too. Haskins went to El Paso in about 1964.

I was talking to Mother yesterday afternoon about the movie "Believe In Me" and Mother would like to see it too. She was reminded of the Trent fans and what fanatics they were. She recalled that on more than one occasion she would jump up to tell the referee something and her false teeth would just about go flying out of her mouth. The day after that would happen, a can of denture powder would arrive in the mail. She always suspeced Mr. Ross, Sid and Floydel's dad of sending it to her. She still gets a good laugh out of that.

Yes, the Trent fans were wonderful! Just about everyone in town went to Austin for the state tournament games and when we came back they all left church on Sunday evening and lined the road coming into town to cheer us. Barbara
